Charles Mill Lake Park

Charles Mill Lake Park is situated on 2,000 acres in Richland and Ashland Counties. Charles Mill Dam is a rolled earth fill dam with an impervious, water resistant, clay core that was constructed in 1935-36 on the Black Fork Creek for the purpose of flood control. The lake has a surface area of 1350 acres, a maximum depth of 24 feet and 34 miles of shore line. The lake has a horsepower limit of 10 and provides opportunities for sailing, boating and fishing. The park features two campgrounds (Main Camp and Eagle Point) with a combined total of more than 400 campsites and three patio cabins.

    The lake has a horsepower limit of 10 and provides opportunities for sailing, boating and fishing. The waters of Charles Mill Lake are home to channel catfish, flathead, catfish bullheads, white bass, largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass (wipers), crappie, bluegill and saugeye. The public launch ramp is free and located off St. Rt. 430. Hunting is permitted between Labor Day and Memorial Day in designated areas. State licenses are required for boating, hunting and fishing.

    The park features two campgrounds (Main Camp and Eagle Point) with a combined total of 400 campsites and three patio cabins. Reservations are now accepted on line at www.reservemwcd.org or calling the toll free number at 1-855-822-6764. Walk in’s are welcome but must check with park office before setting up. Ice cream, pop, snacks, ice, firewood and miscellaneous items may be purchased at both Main Camp and Eagle Point registration offices. The gate sells ice and firewood.

    Admission to the park beginning Friday on Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day is $5 single occupant, $10 for 2 or more passengers. Please give us a call at 419-368-6885 or email us at [email protected] if you have any questions about or campgrounds or lake.

    Park Entry Fees: Memorial Day – Labor Day only

    Once you enter the park you are invited to enjoy park activities and amenities including the trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and swimming beach. The swimming beach is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day (weather permitting).

    Gate admission for daily park visitors charged Memorial Day – Labor Day. $5 single occupant, $10 for 2 or more passengers.

  • Charles Mill has three patio cabins that are located along the water’s edge. Our patio cabins have a rustic feel with fewer
    amenities but still feature beautiful lakefront views. These patio cabins do not have running water or restrooms, however restroom and shower facilities are located nearby.

  • RV & Tent Camping
    Charles Mill Lake Park offers a variety of campsites that range from waterfront with panoramic views of the lake to primitive campsites nestled in the woods.  More than 400 campsites are available for RVs and tents to camp for a night or longer (discounted 30-day camping rates are also available). Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. If you choose an electric campsite, 30-amp service is provided.

    Seasonal Camping
    Enjoy the beautiful park setting all summer with seasonal camping.  Whether you choose to stay in the campground all season or prefer the convenience of a campsite ready for your enjoyment, seasonal camping offers a discount from the daily camping rate.  A seasonal camping permit is available for a seven (7) month period, beginning April 1st and ending October 31st.  A limited number of campsites are designated for seasonal camping.  For more information about becoming a seasonal camper, click here.

    Discounts : Discounts apply only to the senior citizen or veteran staying at the campsite or cabin. Discounts cannot be combined. 

    Senior Citizen: 10% discount the daily camping rate year round. Must be 60 years of age to qualify with valid ID.

    Veterans: 10% discount off daily camping and daily cabin rentals year round. Verification from the Veterans Administration required.

    Active Duty Military: 25% discount off daily camping and daily cabin rate, based on availability year round. Official document from the Department of Defense (DOD) required. Free park admission.

    Former Prisoners of War and 100% Disabled American Veterans: 50% discount off of the daily and 30-day camping  rate year round. 25% discount off daily camping and daily cabin rate, based on availability, year round. Lifetime free park admission. Verification from the Veterans Administration required.

    Seasonal Camping: Permits to camp April 1 – October 31 at a discounted rate from daily camping.

    Campground Rules

    Pets
    Pets are allowed everywhere, except the cabins, swim beach, and pool. Owners must clean up after their pets and they must be kept on a leash.
