Tappan Earth Day Celebration & Programs for April 20
April 20
8am-5pm Ohio Boater Education Course – Ohio law requires this course for anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 in order to operate any powered watercraft greater than 10 horsepower. Course will be led by MWCD Rangers at TAPPAN LAKE MARINA. Students must attend the entire course, 8am to 5pm, and pass a proficiency exam. Pre-registration is required at https://mwcd.ticketleap.com. Course is FREE and space is limited.
9am-2pm Knotty Hour Open House – Bring your current crochet, knit, embroidery, or other craft project and enjoy social time! Plus, learn from others and share patterns. Staff will be on hand to help beginners and share the ideas for this program. Bring your own camp chair for more comfortable seating. Program is sponsored by Pindrop Shop in Uhrichsville, OH.
9-11am Nature Center Open – Explore the Nature Center and learn about upcoming programs. Plus meet Harrison County Soil & Water Conservation District for a fun activity!
11am-1pm Earth Day Clean-up – Stop by the Activity Center for gloves and trash bags, then pick-up map for areas for litter throughout the park & lake! Bring the bags back and receive a coupon for a FREE night of daily camping!
11am-1pm Tree Giveaway – Do you have a spot for a tree?! Stop by the Activity Center to pick up free saplings! Red oak, white oak, and white pine saplings will be available on a first come, first served basis. Planting and species information will also be available at the time of pick-up. Ready to be taken home and planted!! Sponsored by the MWCD Conservation Department.
2-3pm Tree Craft for Kids – Meet at the Nature Center to learn about Ohio’s trees and make a tree craft.
4-5pm Canvas Painting Adult Craft – Paint a cute spring decoration at the Nature Center! For ages 13 and up.
