UAV/Drone Policy

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Drones are permitted at MWCD properties with a permit. Permitted users are divided into two (2) groups: Commercial and Hobbyist.  Commercial pilots must possess a Remote Pilot Certificate under Part 107 or a Section 333 exemption as issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Hobbyists are required to follow all FAA’s recreational model aircraft rules including but not limited to registration of their UAV and have a copy of a passed FAA The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST).

Designated UAV locations within the parks at Atwood, Charles Mill, Pleasant Hill, Seneca and Tappan have been assigned and can be found on maps here.  Areas that are considered Public Use Areas are accessible for UAV use and can be found on maps located here.
